Our general approach to the Public Health Program is to raise awareness of vulnerable groups of population and general public on public health issues, build capacity of the institutions and NGOs, support representatives from multiple stakeholder groups in shaping and advocating for health policies and practices that are based on evidence and promote social inclusion, human rights, and justice. The Public Health Program focuses on mental health, harm reduction, palliative care, and law and health sub-programs to address the needs of vulnerable population and specific groups.
Mental health
From 2000, the OSF-Armenia has supported different projects in mental healthcare, in particular, its deinstitutionalization process. The foundation backed Armenia’s first community-based mental health institution, the Spitak Care House, which has become a model for the reform of outdated, closed psychiatric institutions. Below reports, studies and bulletins present the achievements and current issues in mental healthcare and its deinstitutionalisation prepared and carried out by OSF-Armenia partners.
