On the Interview of the President of Belarus A. Lukashenko

On February 7, 2022, in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov on Solovyov Live, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said: “Well, Armenia has nowhere to go. Do you think anyone needs them? They saw it. Nikol Vovayevich saw it. Azerbaijan somehow leaves that group, because we also made many mistakes. It is a separate topic. There, of course, Turkey provides very serious support to Azerbaijan. Gas and oil pass through Turkey. “And I think Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, out of necessity (first of all, economically), will join as well.”

Obviously, this statement proposed by Lukashenko is in line with the periodic statements made by the enemies of Armenia’s sovereignty, including some figures of the Armenian political forces, in the context of the open propaganda of the Russian or Soviet empire and the restoration of its former colonies.

We, the undersigned organizations, consider Lukashenko’s statement as part of an open campaign against Armenia’s sovereignty.

Considering that the Republic of Armenia has no future being in any union with countries having anti-democratic regimes, we demand from the Armenian authorities now and from now on to unequivocally, harshly, publicly and diplomatically counteract the oral and written statements as well as any actions threatening the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia.

The authorities of the Republic of Armenia have a primary obligation to make every necessary and appropriate effort so that no political or state figure in Armenia or abroad dares to allow such encroachments on our country and people.
