On March 28th at 14.00 at the Congress Hotel Ballroom, Open Society Foundations – Armenia will hold presentation and discussion of research report on the Assessment of Teacher Professional Development and Educational Content in the Context of General Education Reforms in Armenia.
The Foundation views the importance of the mainstream education reforms and their impact on the quality of education among its priority activities and continues to support thematic research projects and public discussions, placing education quality and relevance at the core of wider stakeholders’ discussion. For this purpose in 2013 the Foundation funded a research project on the “Assessment of Teachers’ Professional Development and Educational Content in the Context of General Education Reforms in Armenia”.
The research was conducted by Barev NGO during the months of February – March of 2013. In the scope of research 45 mainstream schools from Yerevan and 5 provinces of Armenia have been surveyed. The main goal of the research was the assessment of general education reforms in Armenia with the specific focus on teachers’ professional development and education content. The research highlights the problems and analyzes the situation in the field of mainstream education from the perspective of students, parents and teachers, expert and includes analysis of legal regulatory framework, international publications and studies.
The Armenian Government, National Assembly, other public administration bodies, Yerevan and regional municipalities, international organizations, civil society, media, and sector experts are invited to the discussion.
